Do you know what kinds of optical fiber connectors there are?

In the field of optical fiber, optical fiber interface (also known as optical fiber connector) is a common product, which is a detachable device between optical fiber and optical fiber, and connects the two ends of optical fiber. It is not only connected to the optical fiber, but also can be repeatedly plugged and unplugged, so it has also become a movable connector of the optical fiber. With the domestic broadband upgrade strategy, the demand for optical fiber connecting devices is expanding. Next, we will focus on several commonly used optical fiber connectors and tell you how to distinguish them.
FC type.
This kind of connector was first developed by NTT in Japan. FC is the abbreviation of Ferrule Connector, indicating that its external strengthening method is the use of metal sleeve, fastening mode is screw buckle. This kind of connector has the advantages of simple structure, convenient operation and easy manufacture, but the optical fiber end is more sensitive to dust and easy to produce Fresnel reflection, so it is difficult to improve the performance of echo loss. Later, this type of connector has been improved by using a spherical pin (PC), but the external structure has not changed, so that the performance of insertion loss and echo loss has been greatly improved.
SC type.
This is a kind of optical fiber connector developed by NTT Company in Japan. its shell is rectangular, and the structural dimensions of the pin and coupling sleeve are exactly the same as those of FC type. Among them, the end face of the pin is mostly lapped by PC or APC type, and the fastening mode is the plug-and-pull latch type, which does not need to be rotated. This kind of connector has the advantages of low price, convenient insertion and unplugging operation, small fluctuation of intervention loss, high compressive strength and high installation density.
St type.
ST and SC interfaces are two types of optical fiber connectors. For 10Base-F connections, connectors are usually of ST type, and for 100Base-FX, connectors are mostly of SC type. The core of the ST connector is exposed, and the core of the SC connector is inside the connector.
LC type.
The size of the pin and sleeve used in this kind of connector is half of the size used by ordinary SC, FC, etc., which is 1.25mm. This can increase the density of optical fiber connectors in the optical fiber distribution frame. At present, in terms of single-mode SFF, LC type connectors have actually occupied a dominant position, and the application in multi-mode is also growing rapidly.
